The main difference is that P500Q steel has a lower minimum yield strength (500 MPa) compared to P690Q (>690 MPa), sydd hefyd yn arwain at gryfder tynnol lleiaf ar gyfer P500Q. Mae'r ddau yn blatiau dur wedi'u diffodd a'u tymheru ar gyfer llestri gwasgedd, gan ddilyn safon EN 10028-6, ond mae P690Q yn radd cryfder uwch.
